ShipComm Launches New Self-Serve Parcel Portal & Convoy Portal for Inaugural Client
March 26, 2010 - Charleston SC: - Shippers Commonwealth ("ShipComm"), the leader in collaborative logistics automation programs, successfully launched its Self-Serve Parcel Portal in first quarter 2010. The Web-based program provides for field, remote, or distributed shipment routing requests to be entered, and best mode, service class, with rating and transit determined (for carton or non-carton shipments).
Service types of parcel to be available for field use (ground or multi-class vs. priority or standard overnight, etc) can be controlled by corporate logistics to limit unnecessary "maverick" expedited freight service costs. If parcel is determined as the appropriate freight mode, then the Self-Serve Portal also then allows the user to generate waybills (print or electronic pdf) and obtain tracking numbers, all in a few easy steps. The program is ideal for control of parcel level shipments without having to centralize the function while providing corporate enterprise visibility, and is fully integrated to the latest ShipComm TMS systems.
This Self-Serve Parcel Portal was debuted at Exterran (ShipComm client) concurrent with the new Convoy Portal. The Convoy Portal has capabilities to handle over-dimensional and multi-truck permit load routings with TMS from field over the Internet.
